Move over Chardonnay, we gotta new oak influenced, textural white to adore - Encruzado. This wine changed our lives when we first tried it, as we don't see many white grape varieties from this part of the world exude this much complexity. This thing swallows oak like it's going out of fashion and a little reductive influence adds that Burgundian feel. White peach, lemon curd and a spritely, mineral acidity land this plane, and the length of this wine is astounding. This is our new special occasion wine - needs to be drunk to be believed. All hail Encruzado
A territorial wine, linked to the estate, offering an unfiltered expression of Taboadella’s wonderful terroir, as we idealised it when we first arrived. With almost indescribable aromatic complexity, Taboadella Grande Villae white is firm, with a silky texture and refined linearity. With high concentration, it is a magnificent wine with a vibrant acidity that only the Dão region can offer, with a long, persistent and very precise finish.

About Tabodella
Taboadella is an estate in the Dao, Portugal that dates back as far as the 1st Century, that has been claimed by the Roman Empire, The Knights Templar and many aristoratic families over the millennia. Today it is under the custodianship of the Amorim family, who farm 42 ha of Dao varieties from 30 - 100 years old, such as Encruzado, Jaen (Mencia), Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional, managed as bush vines and farmed without irrigation. These are among some of the finest dry wines of Portugal.
