The Kopp estate borders the Black Forest and it's so often I think of that berry laden chocolate cake when tasting his Pinot's. This might be the standout in that regard. Cacao nibs, blueberries, sandalwood, fresh raspberries all in that aroma mix. There is almost an incense quality to it. Such a juicy palate with a great acid component you don't otherwise see in many Pinot Noirs. Black cherry, ripe plum, framed by a fine seam of ripe tannin. A unique wine but no less delicious. Spring Pinot!

About Kopp
Johannes Kopp is the 2nd Generation of the Kopp Estate, taking over the family vineyard and winery at just 22 in 2012. Since then, he's grown the vineyard holdings to 32ha and has converted all the vineyards to be Demeter certified bio-dynamic. Johannes and his partner Alina focus their effort on crafting great Spatburgunder, alongside Chardonnay, Weissburgunder and of course Riesling. Through these varieties, they hope to showcase the incredible diversity of soil that occurs in their unique pocket of the world.
In a joint project with two good friends, Johannes Kopp has breathed new life into this old vineyard. Our first Pinot Noir from the Balzenberg in Baden-Baden. Slightly metamorphic shales, with thin marble lenses at the top, inclusions of
Grauwacken and Grauwacken slates and quartzite slates. Planted in 2017
