We've unlocked a new luncheon wine character here. This is a classy little table white from the entire Villae of Taboadella, where some of the oldest vines actually make it into this cuvee - most up to 100 years old! This is a near even split of Bical, Encruzado and Cercial, fermented in a mix of stainless steel and concrete for a wine focused on texture and freshness. Lovely white peach, gold apple, steely minerality and some nice zesty, citric acidity. Definitely desperate for some kind of fresh sea food or something slathered in pesto or salsa verde. A white wine designed for sunshine if there ever was one.
The exuberance and transparency of the Encruzado grape variety, combined with the delicate floral aromas of Bical and the austerity of Cercial, made it possible “to design” a Taboadella Villae white wine that has a unique profile and vibrant acidity - a beautiful testimony to the original terroir!

About Taboadella Taboadella is an estate in the Dao, Portugal that dates back as far as the 1st Century, that has been claimed by the Roman Empire, The Knights Templar and many aristoratic families over the millennia. Today it is under the custodianship of the Amorim family, who farm 42 ha of Dao varieties from 30 - 100 years old, such as Encruzado, Jaen (Mencia), Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional, managed as bush vines and farmed without irrigation.
