Beware: Will fill up the room as soon as you open it. Definitely the most powerful of Daniel Fries Rieslings. Bursting with lime oil interwoven with leesy interest. Surrounded with white flowers and mandarine peel. Immediately an opulent palate, but the acidity is no slouch. Faint sweetness here, that restrains the power and savoury edge given by lees and oak. White peach and grilled nuts bind it all together. A classy take on Riesling here!

About Daniel Fries
Daniel is the 8th Generation of the Fries family who farm 8ha of vineyard in the village of Winningen, exclusively hand harvesting and without the use of herbicides. They farm a Riesling in 2 of the Grand Cru appellations of Uhlen and Rottgen, alongside one of the first estates in the Mosel to plant Pinot Noir in 1986.
Röttgen is our warmest appellation, marking the eastern end of our village. Grown on terraces of gray to ocher-colored clay slate, interspersed with quartz. In 1951, this vineyard in the heart of the site became part of our family. Over the next 3 years, the mostly fallow terraces with collapsed walls were reclaimed by hand by my grandfather and great-grandfather. This wine comes from the oldest terraces in the center of the parcel, around the inscription "Winninger Röttgen," where the vines are between 30 and 60 years old.
